PEACE-BUILDING
The Casamance region of Southern Senegal has suffered for more than 20 years from what has been described as a low-level civil war between the Senegalese government and the MFDC (Mouvement des Forces Démocratiques de Casamance), a socio-political movement that demanded independence for the region. The Senegalse South, therefore, still suffers from the aftermath of this conflict and related problems. Our aim is to offer sustainable development and promote lasting peace in the Casamance and its surrounding regions and countries, through:
-
Community and cross-border social dialogue, to promote cooperation, solidarity and understanding and prevent future conflicts.
-
The reconstruction of the Casamance region in general and previous conflict zones in particular, including infrastructure and sanitary and educational institutions.
-
The development of dynamic and participative partnerships with organizations working in the bordering countries of Guinea-Bissau and The Gambia that have equally been affected by the Casamance conflict.
-
Mediation between the MFDC (Mouvement des Forces Démocratiques de Casamance) and local and regional authorities.
